Complicated Kiasu King

I think I'm more Kiasu than a typical Singaporean since I was young. I'm literarily Kiasu. I really 怕輸.

Today I read about the SMU employment survey for 2007 cohort. The average starting pay is 3045, compared to 2800 in 2006. I think this figure is inflated by the bankers and consultants who command 4000 to 10000 a month, and there are people who accepted 1800 to 2200 jobs in advertising agency or branding consultancy, so I guess a typical student's average pay would be around 2500 to 2800. But, when you are asked how much is your starting pay by your relative, friends, etc. , you'll be compared against this survey. Others get above 3k and how come you can't! How should one answer to that? "cos my job scope is more interesting. cos this career is more promising. cos...."

There are so many reasons. But, the peer pressure is too high to accept low pay job with a valid reason. I don't wanna lose! Pls!

I don't understand myself sometimes (or most of the time). What do I want for my career?
1) Opportunity to work in Japan in future (either in a Japanese or US MNC)
2) Opportunity to travel overseas (of cos Japan is the best but don't mind south east asia)
3) MNC (must be Japanese or Foreign. Sorry for Creative! I prefer Apple)
4) High starting pay (low starting pay with high increment is out of consideration as I will move overseas before such positions pay me a handsome amount of increment)
5) Flexibility (directly opposite of Japanese Corp culture)

I don't know which is my first priority. Obviously I want all these as a Kiasu King. But, life is not that easy. How should I prioritize them to achieve my long-term goal of working in Japan and short-term goal of getting higher pay. It looks good to work for Jap MNC now but the pay sucks! Not much flexibility in term of working hour and style.

Arghhhhh..... so stressful! People asked me how happy I'm to graduate. I have no time to be happy until I secure my job.
