雙十節快樂! What is 雙十節? It's the National Day of the Republic of China. It's called 雙十節 because it falls on 10th of Oct and regarded as 國慶日 (National Day). 雙十節 is a kinda major (political) celebration among overseas Chinese in Myanmar and usually celebrated at 梅花 大酒店 in Yangon.

As a patriotic oversea Chinese, I've grown up with these words. I've learnt how to sing 三民主義 or National Anthem of ROC, 國慶歌, 梅花,中華民國頌, 國家, 中華民國國旗歌.

These songs really play an important role in my life not to forget my my root and my ancestor. Thanks to my parents for sending me to 中正中學. Among my siblings, I'm the most Chinese from maintaining cultures to choosing songs to listen haha... Some of my friends are shocked to find out the number of Chinese songs I can sing. Well, I listen to Chinese songs more than Burmese songs though I don't fully understand Chinese. My first and only singing lesson was at 中正中學. Besides music theory, almost all songs I learnt are National anthem or old songs related to ROC. Some might think they're boring or kinda propaganda songs from Taiwan. But in order for a minority to maintain its culture for 3 to 4 generations in a culturally different society, these songs always keep me patriotic as a Chinese though I've never been to China or Taiwan.

Since then, I've been listening to Chinese songs most of the time and watching Chinese channels on TV. This was how I picked up Mandarin in a Burmese speaking country. Sometimes it's very tired to keep this inspiration alive.

Anyway, it's been ages since I celebrated my last Double Ten Day. I pay my respect to 國父 & other leaders.
