Memory
I didn't believe in people saying that they're too old to study as their brain can't remember as much as it could. I believed it was just an excuse but I found it very hard to study nowadays. It takes more time to memorize new vocab, grammar and usages.
Today I took my 2nd semester exam at my Japanese school. I skipped half of the semester (should be trimester) to go back to my country and missed the whole chapter. It's very tough for me to cram everything in a morning. I used to master cramming lots of things in a short time before the exam, but my brain just can't accept. It's been only less than 4 months that I didn't use my brain to study. Has it already been rusted?
Actually it's quite fun to learn Japanese as the examples in the book are sometimes very amusing. I couldn't help smiling to myself when I saw this example today:
上司が残業しているのに、新入社員の僕は先に帰るわけには行きません。
My boss didn't say such things but as I already know their culture, it's very bad for me to act like any other local staff here who can be excused from this for not knowing Japanese culture. でもね、毎日7、8時までやる事ないけど上司がまだ帰ってないから部下も残業するのは嫌だよ。
