Joke of the day

Everyone in school is very stressed and busy this week cos mid-term exams are waiting after the study week break. I had meeting everyday during the break and was really tired until I saw this email from my groupmate sending to a Professor in school to lend one CD to show during our presentation (although she didn't tell whole group about this CD). When I first read, my reaction was "WT* is this!" (although I'm used to her emails like this to our own prof, groupmates and even the duputy CEO of one big company requesting to let us do a project on his company. I had been so angry reading her email but this time I was so tired from my studies that I found this last email very entertaining and couldn't help but share my laughters to my friends on my blog.

Here is her email. 100% guarantee that you'll laugh! Agai, this is an email requesting to borrow one CD from a Prof in case you don't get what she means. :p

Dear Prof ABC,

I'm a student of XYZ's EEE class in Group X (XXXday, 00.00pm - 00.00pm).

Prof XYZ has showed this video PQR company case to the class. Actually I was the one who wrote on his feedback that he should show some videos to make the class more interesting and more applicable to the business real world.

F.Y.I, I'm a X year undergraduate majoring in both and . PQR company gave a career talk on XX Sept. I attended the talk and I saw this interesting video which I can't see or hear clearly during the talk that time. Thus I found out from the office of career services counsellors that the CD is from one of the Professors but I didn't know who to approach in the first place, thus I feedbacked to Prof XYZ for assistance.

In addition, before I submitted the online application which is due on XXX Oct, PQR Company human resource staff called me on XXX September for my job order preferences. I was quite shocked as I was busy submitting for the Big 4 XXX jobs. And also today , I just received a call from KKKK HR that I'm offered an 's full time job at KKKK.

Furthermore, I'm also interested to work in Petroleum industry as I used to work at XXXXX as an OOOOO Intern. And XXXXX HR also sent me an email notifying about the XXXXX Job recruitment for 2008. As an XXXXX intern, I'm considered direct application which means I don't have to go through the initial application process. But rather I would be offered a job directly or immediately if there is a vacancy in that department.

Lastly, I'm also taking a module called SSSSSS conducted by Professor JJJ. In this course, I'm required to do a case study presentation which is on AT&T Unversial card Services. The Prof required us to present additional and creative information outside from the case. Thus, I find that PQR and other case presentations shown in the CD Rom are very useful and applicable to my case presentation which would be held on X Oct 2007 (XXX) , 0.00am - 11.11am.

Therefore, it would be greatly appreciated that if it would be kindly appreciated that you can lend me and my group this CD Rom called Business Ethics. Because AT&T case culture, its branding, marketing strategy both internally and externally is very close and similar to PQR. The only difference is the nature of business, one is Petroleum but one is the Credit Card services. Howvever, I belive some concepts on the employee welfare and concerns and internal controls in the ethics area can be applied in AT &T case. This is what my Prof JJJ is looking for or wants us to emphasized on, which is the internal controls and benefits / disadvatages on the employees compensation scheme as well as the integration of the external risks or changing environment factors.

Pls kindly reply to me through email or at 9XXX XXXX asap, hopefully before XX Oct 2007. As I need to reply my confirmation for the KKKK job on X Oct which lies coincendently same as my SSSS Case Presentation. Also I'm leaving for on travelling purpose on XX Oct 2007, 00pm.

Here is what the prof replied to her: Can you put it in simple words what is it that you are looking for?

Initially I didn't intend to post it on my blog so as not to offend her. So, I emailed to my other groupmates who are her good friends to suggest her to change her attitude and writing style. Who the hell in Singapore will believe an SMU student writes this kinda email while we are trained to excel in business communication. I don't know how she passed her COMM101 and Finishing Touch, especially Cover Letter & Resume writing. No wonder she said Office of Career Office in school chased her to edit her Resume so many times before they published it. I was thinking how fussy the OCS is but I understand now. haha... Anyway, going back to the story, my friend replied me that my email is also amusing. Due to the request from my other friends, whom I showed this email, to forward it to them so that they can make their other friends day who are stressed out in this exam period, I decided to post this on my blog. And to be fair, I should post my reply as well.

Here is what I wrote back to my groupmates:

Hey MM & AA,

You guys as good friends of TTT should really tell her to stop non-sense already. When did we discuss to show this video during presentation? By looking at her email, I'm very sure that the video won't be appropriate to our case since she doesn't understand what is appropriateness which can be obviously seen in the way she wrote her email. Maybe she's so creative that we can't catch up her ideas as a creative director of special interest group.

Anyway, this email was more amusing than the jokes the Prof in SCM class showed us. :p

Well, for her sake you guys should really really remind her cos I don't wanna be in the group which the whole class and even whole SMU hate.
