PASSION & RESPONSIBILITY

mood - irritated

The more I think about it, the more irritated I am. It's such a waste for the country to have such kinda people. I really hate those who just do something for the sake of doing it. I don't know why they are wasting their time for something they are not passionate about. I'm really sorry to LKY that his people are very practical. They are so practical that they lack passion for their country, their community and their school. Well, I'm not saying that practicality is bad. We can't say what is good or bad. Everything has its own characteristics and if misused it's harmful. I remember how Chang Jin answered her teacher the question on the difference of medicinal and harmful herbs. She said we can't tell which herb is good or bad for humen. Even water can be toxic if drunk at late night and early morning. If used properly, practicality can increase efficiency and productivity. But, there are also some people who just blindly choose it over other attributes to have a good life.

Alex Mandossian, the Internet Marketing guru, once said at the Tele-seminar on how to choose a career that whatever decision we make to choose our career, choose something that we are really passionate about it. Then, choose something we are good at. If these two conflict then choose the former. Cos we may be good at something but in the long run if we have interest to do that thing, it can't be helped. But, if the former is chosen, even though we may not be good, our passion will drive us to be excellent in that field.

A lot of people here, according to my experience, just follow the crowd and don't even use their brain to analyse. I really hate when someone reply me if he needs to ask other's opinions to make his personal decision. Consulting with others is a good thing but shouldn't we have ball to make our own decision? (Sorry for my language. I just hate cowardice)

When asked why they do certain things, they'll say it'll be useful or beneficial to my career and all practical people will do it. It's not a bad thing to do what is beneficial to our life someday, but then how should we choose what to do? I can't bare with those who just anyhow choose for the sake of benefits to their life. Wouldn't it be better if we choose something we are passionate and useful to our life? If I were them, I wouldn't choose it if those conditions are not met.

Is there such a thing called free lunch in life? If we want something beneficial to our career, shouldn't we sacrificed something like time, money, effort, priority to achieve it? Well as a businessman, we should know clearer that everything has its own price. I just can't believe how they only wanna get benefits without paying price. Since we choose it, we should know our rights and responsibilties of being the owner of that. In other words, take ownership! Don't forget your responsibilities before showing off your authority and rights as an owner.

So what is responsibilty? Take a look at the definition! And ask yourself whether you are responsible enough or not.

RESPONSIBILITY (n)

-the social force that binds you to your obligations and the courses of action demanded by that force
-a form of trustworthiness; the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct

If you are not responsible enough as an owner, ask why? Maybe you chose something that you are not passionate about but just for the sake of benefits only. Don't forget those owned by you also have the rights not to be owned by you. That's the Democracy! But I doubt this practice is not an unusual thing in Singapore or at least in SMU.
