Religion
I just received a message from one online community called "Japanese Meet Up", a group of Japan-maniacs who meet up weekly for JLPT, cultural exchange or funs like movie, ktv, bowling, etc. I joined this group for 1 yr but haven't attended any even yet. This time they're organizing Christmas meetup. As usual I won't go but what made me read their invitation again is to find out what kinda Christmas meetup it is. (I don't usually celebrate Christmas for a religious reason 'cos I'm a devout Buddhist. In fact, Christmas is a boring festival in my country where 80% of population is Buddhists.)
Christmas is a big festival in Japan. But, I doubt how much they know the religious importance of the day 'cos majority are not Christians. So-called Shintoist Japanese make use of every religion in their life. Giving birth ceremony for kids are done in Shinto tradition, but the weddings are in churches. When they die, they are buried in Buddhist temples. I'm wondering whether Japanese girls might wanna fest during Ramadan cos they might think it's the lastest trend to lose weight.
